With the vehicle now setup with a bed platform, it was time give it a test with a night away.
We had made some arrangements to go out over a weekend. With the weather playing a bit foul we opted to go into a location that wasn’t seeing the full force of the weather system.
Manning Regional Park is a large area close to the US border, popular for camping and outdoor activities during summer. The plan was to take some of the FSR’s (Forestry Service Roads) there and navigate our way to a lake in the Eastgate area. Our spot was located in a region called Manning Park.

Once we got into the area, we filled up on gas at the last stop and proceeded to make our way to the FSR entrance, where we aired down. From there, we navigated our way to the entrance of the 4WD track and began our climb over some moderate terrain, after which we arrived at the lake!
Even with the weather being quite wet, it was quite stunning with a forest surrounding the lake. The entire area was a combination of green and burnt trees creating a mix of colours amongst the landscape.
Once we settled in and had base camp set up – we took some time to explore the area. There was a trail that ran around the edge of the lake, which we walked along before returning to settle in for the night.
During our stay, I made sure to have my camera and drone active whenever I had the chance. Over the course of that evening and the next morning, I took photos and videos of our environment.
Here is a what I captured.
